37 years old. That is the age of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). It has NEVER been updated. This antiquated, outdated law needs a serious reform to protect humans and our environment. You would think that most chemicals used in the manufacturing of toys, food container, household items, personal care products, etc. are regulated for safety but they are NOT!
In the years since its inception, the TSCA has allowed as many as 85,000 chemicals of concern to be used without being tested for safety. It gives the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) absolutely no authority to take action against harmful chemical so these toxins wind up in our homes and on our bodies causing cancer, messing with our endocrine systems, polluting and harming the environment.
